The Ohio Wood Art 'Sol' cutting board is sure to bring warmth and light to the kitchen where it will one day live. Unlike the real sun, Sol will never burn you, shines 24 hours a day, and may absolutely be stared directly at without eye protection.
Sol features some of the most highly-figured hardwoods I've used in an Ohio Wood Art work. The flame maple, unusually colorful black walnut, rich Honduran mahogany, and striking sapele create a striking contrast of grain and coloration. These wood species are hard enough to resist gouging and knife marks during use but are soft enough so as to not dull your knives.
A dramatic chamfer and routed handholds make it very easy to pick up and carry Sol securely, even when wet or slippery. This makes it great to use as a charcuterie tray if you're reluctant to use it as a cutting board.
Sol has been finished with food-grade mineral oil and beeswax.
Prior to first oiling, Sol was water-popped to prevent grain from raising during first exposure to water, which can give the board a slightly 'fuzzy' texture if not done during finishing process.
An exclusive, sun-themed Ohio Wood Art logo is laser-engraved on the bottom to add even more personality to the piece.
High-quality rubber feet are attached to the bottom of Sol with screws to keep it firmly in place during use.
