An Ohio Wood Art original design, the Nuthouse bird dwelling is handcrafted from red cedar, a wood species that is naturally resistant to moisture, rot, insects, fungus, and bacteria.
No finishes (polyurethane, oil, etc...) were applied to the Nuthouse to ensure that it is healthy and appealing to its inhabitants. The wood glue used in its construction is waterproof, nontoxic, and emits no VOCs (volatile organic compounds).
The Nuthouse has a 1-1/2" opening, the ideal size for house sparrows, goldfinches, and other wild birds seeking comfort and shelter from the elements and predators.
The interior of the Nuthouse is cylindrical in shape, with a cozy 4-1/2" diameter and a 4-1/2" depth.
The interior is accessible for cleaning by swiveling the back panel upwards in either direction on its pivot. A pair of strong neodymium magnets keep the back panel secured when the Nuthouse is closed.
The Ohio Wood Art logo is laser-engraved into the back of the Nuthouse.
The Nuthouse hangs from a 24" length of sturdy, decorative chain, attached by a brass eyehook.  A 1-1/4" steel split ring allows the Nuthouse to hang from a small branch, a hook, a nail, etc....
Three 1/4" drain/ventilation holes have been drilled into the bottom of the Nuthouse.
