Ted Scherer began woodworking more than 25 years ago. His early
pieces included cutting boards and children's rocking chairs, but he quickly moved into
detailed inlay work and intricate furniture. In 1995, he picked up his first
chainsaw after seeing another chainsaw artist carving at a local store. Within a
matter of weeks, Scherer was designing bears, eagles, wolves, rams and a variety of
storybook characters. |
"I can just visualize images in a piece of wood," Scherer said. His current projects include lighthouses that actually light up and seven famous little men (as part of a children's collection). His work has been
sold to such clients as Rocky Boots, Timken, the Ohio Veterans Home, Indian
Mound State Park and a custom design for a former Cleveland Brown.
